Meet Carolyn

I grew up in Belfast during the Troubles, which means I learned very early how to read a room, stay alert, and keep a lid on anything that might make things worse.

I didn't know at the time that this was masking. I just thought it was being good at getting on with things. Mostly. (There was an incident involving my Gran and some choice language that got me banned from seeing ABBA: The Movie, but we don't need to go into that.)

It took me until my forties, a peri-menopause I didn't recognise, my kid’s autism diagnosis that reflected something back at me, and a Teams call I abruptly ended while my manager was mid-sentence, to understand that ‘getting on with things’ had been doing a lot of heavy lifting on behalf of an identity I'd never properly examined.

I'm Carolyn Arnold. I'm a clinical hypnotherapist, Havening® practitioner, recovering accountant, and someone who has been exactly where you are - capable on the outside, quietly unravelling on the inside, and completely baffled about why all the self-awareness in the world wasn't making it stop.

I've spent years combining therapeutic training with the kind of pattern recognition that comes from decades of being a sensitive, neurodivergent woman in environments that weren't built for either of those things. The result is a way of working that's practical, fast, and genuinely gets to what's actually going on rather than what looks like what's going on.

I work with women who are brilliant at their jobs, responsible for everyone around them, and currently running on a nervous system that has forgotten what non-emergency mode feels like. Women who have tried the therapy, read the books, done the courses, and are still waking up at 3am with their jaw clenched wondering why none of it has stuck.

If you grew up loving ABBA and ended up at a Stranglers gig and felt completely at home in both rooms, we're probably going to get on fine. (I contain multitudes. So do you. That's not a problem, it's the whole point.)

My approach is called Release, Reset, Regenerate. It's not a linear fix or a positivity overhaul. It's a way of working with your body's stored responses to shift what thinking about it never quite reached.
